Mike leading morning worship

Mike leading morning worship

So this morning we are back at it again. After a 2 hr long game of capture the flag we all went to bed tired but slept well. This morning Mike led morning praise and did a great job. It has been fun to see the HS guys on this trip stepping out of their comfort zones and really making a difference in the camps. As a whole this team has been so great at encouraging and helping one another. Well thought I would post this morning but we have a big day ahead of us so back to the fun. Take care

First Day of Jr High Camp

Jr High camp

Jr High camp

Hey Friends we finished up High school camp yesterday and headed into the city to relax and get some American food. What is American food you might ask; well mostly it doesn’t have any rice served with it. Who would have thought Burger King or McDonalds could be so good. The fun part of the night was that while we were at the night bazaar shopping about 50 students from camp showed up to hang out. After spending our money on things for all of you we headed home to get a good night sleep and then started jr high camp this afternoon. It is definitely different but a lot of fun at the same time. As I write this we are doing our first chapel with them and Chris is heading up to preach the word. The staff as a whole is doing great but I must admit that we are a bit tired. Just a word of thanks to Kim as she is the one editing the videos we put up yesterday as well as Anita Jenson and Jen Younker as they have been taking all the photos and putting them together for your enjoyment. Anyways we need to go get ready for the big game of capture the flag that will begin after chapel. Take care

Jr High Camp has begun

Well the high school students are gone and the Jr Highers have arrived. Already the big question is how late can we stay up and where is the nearest place to buy candy. The other hit so far has been the pool and Charles. For sone reason they can’t get enough of him and he loves throwing them around the pool. Joking aside we can’t wait to get to know these students and are looking forward to seeing what God has instore. Until the next update

High School Camp Wrap Up

Posted in Thailand on October 20th, 2009 by rferreira – 3 Comments

Hi friends! This is Kim and I’m excited to let you know what’s been going on! High school camp just ended and we have a well needed break for 24 hours. The jr. highers are going to be here tomorrow after lunch. This last few days went really smoothly. I had my hands full though filming and editing the rec and wrap up videos. It was a lot of fun, but stressful at the same time. I appreciate my team mates so much. They were constantly asking if they could do anything for me to help. That is something I’ve loved this trip is the unity of our team. It seemed like from the first day everyone clicked. I went on this trip two years ago and there were people I didn’t even know their names of at the end of the trip. So we’ve been really blessed to have the team we do!
What up State Side??!! It’s Calen and I’ll expound a little on what Kim had to say. High School camp was incredible!! My guys were so awesomely hilarious and I loved hanging out with them. One of our kids Daniel came all the way from Laos on a bus. We got along so well and I’m really going to miss them. As some of you know I gave a seminar yesterday with my buddy John, to the kids and I was super nervous. I didn’t even know what I was saying at times and it just felt like someone was putting words in my mouth and they just kept coming and coming. God was there for sure. After the Seminar was great, I made some new friends, Sarah and Aymee and they just talked with me about my life at Hume and their lives here in Thailand and what they hope to do after they graduate. I have to say that I will definitely be coming back here in two years. This trip has really stretched my faith in completely good ways and I am so happy with what God has been doing in my life. I have to say that this trip has been the best trip of my life. I’ve grown in my faith, strength and courage and have made awesome friends!! Next up…Junior High camp!!!

End Of Day 3

Well our last full day is over and the students will be leaving tomorrow at 11. It has been a lot of fun and we have seen God work in the lives of the students these past few days. The team is doing well as we ordered some American food (pizza) and had a midnight pizza party to celebrate finishing camp. We are all looking forward to a little bit of rest and we will try and post a bunch of stuff tomorrow telling you all about how the camp went. Hope you are enjoying the photos (click here to see ones from today) and it seems you are now able to leave comments on the blog if you feel the need. Take care as it is way past our bed time

Our Fun bathroom

Posted in Thailand on October 19th, 2009 by rferreira – Be the first to comment

Well one of the fun things about camp are all the different bathrooms. Here is an example of the place that Allan, Nathan and I are staying. Before you get to bummed just think about the heat and bugs that come with an outdoor facility. Anyway back to camp

Amazing Sunset

Amazing Sunset

Well day two is coming to a end. We are having a great time and as we close the night there is a crazy night Kajabe tournament finishing up with an amazing lightning show in the background with firefly’s to top it off. Earlier Chris brought the word and Robbie and the band did a great job of leading the group in worship. The team is all doing great and we all feel blessed to be here spending time with these students. Until the next post

Time for some rec

Posted in Thailand on October 18th, 2009 by rferreira – Be the first to comment

It really doesn’t matter where in the world you are kids like recreation. Camping translates into any language and as I write this I can hear the cheers of 375 people having fun.
Talk to you guys later
